Animal Welfare Journal Impact Factor increases again
Animal Welfare – the society journal for Science for Animal Welfare – has achieved another increase in its impact factor.
In the June 2026 Journal Citation Report™ from Clarivate, the new impact factor for Animal Welfare is 2.9, an increase of more than 25%. The journal remains among the top quartile of comparable journals, as it is now ranked 22nd out of 170 journals in Veterinary Sciences (an increase from 30th last year) and 14th out of 183 in Zoology (up from 17th last year).

Animal Welfare is Science for Animal Welfare’s international animal welfare science journal. It publishes the results of peer-reviewed scientific research and reviews relating to the welfare of animals. Papers on ethical and legal issues related to animal welfare are also considered for publication, as are Horizon and Opinion papers.
Animal Welfare is published gold open access by Cambridge University Press (CUP) on behalf of Science for Animal Welfare.
