The Science for Animal Welfare Medal

To recognise the exceptional achievements of an individual scientist who has made fundamental contributions to the advancement of animal welfare over a number of years. 

This is an annual award open in Sept/Oct each year, with a deadline of 10 December the same year.

Nominations may be made on behalf of another individual, or a candidate may nominate themselves. 

How to submit a nomination

When open, the nomination procedure is via an online application form and consists of four main parts:  

  1. A nomination statement that describes why the candidate is being nominated, and details how this individual has made fundamental contributions to the advancement of animal welfare  
  2. A copy of the nominated candidate’s CV (if possible) or a short biography  
  3. A list of publications (please highlight up to three publications that best illustrate the quality of the nominee’s work)   
  4. Two letters of support from well-established scientists in the field  

Please note: unsuccessful nominations will not be notified.
