Travel, Training and Other Events Grants

This grant is available to registered members of Science for Animal Welfare to apply for funding for events, such as attending or organising educational or scientific meetings, lectures, courses or training visits; or for other small events in support of Science for Animal Welfare’s objectives.

Applications for research funding of less than £5,000 should be made via the Small Research Grant Application and over £5,000 via the Large Research Grant Application.

If the application is related to the welfare of farmed animals during transport, at markets, or during slaughter, please consider applying for a grant from our sister charity, the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA) instead, as these are core areas for the HSA.

Please ensure that animal welfare is the main focus of the application. We do not support travel / training / events in which the main focus is, for example, conservation, or the improvement of livestock yield. The animal welfare benefits must be stated very clearly.

How to apply

Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions  page and read the Terms and Conditions for Research Grants carefully, before applying.

This grant is open to registered members of Science for Animal Welfare only. If you are not a member of Science for Animal Welfare, please consider joining us! Information on how to become a Science for Animal Welfare member is available on the following webpage: Science for Animal Welfare Membership.

Completed application forms are accepted throughout the year. However, please ensure that any request for funding is submitted at least two months before either the date of travel, or the start date of any training / event.
