Science for Animal Welfare offers a range of grants to support projects and research and awards that recognise excellence in Animal Welfare science.
Our grants
Small Research Grants
Through our Small Research Grants, Science for Animal Welfare supports smaller scientific research projects (up to £5,000) for the benefit of animal welfare.
Large Research Grants
Each year, a limited amount of money is available to support larger scientific research projects (over £5,000) for the benefit of animal welfare.
Travel, Training and Other Events
If you are seeking financial support for: attending or organising educational or scientific meetings, lectures, courses, or training visits; or for other small (non-research) events in support of Science for Animal Welfare’s objectives.
Our awards
Early Career Animal Welfare Researcher of the Year Award
The Early Career Animal Welfare Researcher of the Year Award is an award that recognises the achievements of scientists at the early stages of their career, who have made significant contributions to improving the welfare of animals.
The Science for Animal Welfare Medal
To recognise the exceptional achievements of an individual scientist who has made fundamental contributions to the advancement of animal welfare over a number of years.
Welfare of farmed animals during transport, at markets or during slaughter
For projects looking into the welfare of farmed animals during transport, at markets, or during slaughter, please consider applying for a grant from our sister charity, the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA) instead, as these are core areas for the HSA.
